The family of Gustaf Adolph Johnson and Ida Josephine Anderson

This is my two Swedish ancestors with their granddaughter, Mildred Ruth Josephine Finfrock.
Gustaf Adolf Johnson, son of Johannes Jonasson and Maja Stina Larsdotter, was born on 5 Jul 1825 at Hulu, Lommaryd, Jönköpings län, Sweden, was christened on 8 Jul 1825 in Lommaryd. His family moved to Blackarp, Vireda, Jönköpings län, in 1838. He emigrated from Blackarp, Vireda, Jönköpings län, Sweden on 6 May 1853 to North America. He travelled with his sister Anna Sophia Johannesdotter, her husband Andrew Johanesson and his sister Fredrika Johannesdotter. They arrived at Boston, Massechusetts aboard the SS Lexington on 20 Sep 1853. The family then travelled to Montmorenci, Tippecanoe Co., Indiana where they engaged in farming until about 1860. They all moved to Beaver Township, Iroquois County, Illinois at that time where there was an established Swedish community. Gustaf bought an 80 acre farm there and worked his farm for over 20 years His sister's husband, Andrew Johanesson, also bought farm land and was very successful.
About 1859 Gustaf married first, Lena Maria Johannesdotter, daughter of Johannes Svensson and Sara Helena Jonsdotter. She was born on 4 Mar 1836 in Torrmyra, Hagshult, Jönköpings län, Sweden, died on 11 Oct 1874 in Beaver Twp., Iroquios Co., Illinois at age 38, and was buried in Beaver Cemetery, Iroquois Co., Illinois.
Children from this marriage were:
i. Augusta J. Johnson was born about 1860 in Beaver Twp., Iroquois Co., Illinois and died between 1880 and 1908.
ii. Helmer Abraham Johnson was born on 13 Jul 1867 in Beaver Twp., Iroquois Co., Illinois, died on 10 Sep 1949 in Centuria, Polk Co., Wisconson at age 82, and was buried in Fristad Lutheran Cem., Centuria, Polk Co., Wisconson.
iii. Victor August Johnson was born on 27 Feb 1870 in Beaver Twp., Iroquois Co., Illinois, died on 2 Sep 1945 in Centuria, Polk Co., Wisconsin at age 75, and was buried in Fristad Lutheran Cem., Centuria, Polk Co., Wisconsin.
iv. Charles A. Johnson was born on 11 Feb 1873 in Beaver Twp., Iroquois Co., Illinois, died on 17 May 1894 in Paxton, Ford Co., Illinois at age 21, and was buried in May 1894 in Glen Cemetery, Paxton, Ford Co., Illinois.
Gustaf married second Ida Josephine Anderson on 12 Mar 1878 in Iroquois Co., Illinois. She was born on 22 Sep 1846, daughter of Anders Fredrick Persson and Sara Svensdotter, in Platsen, Adelöv, Jönköpings län, Sweden. She died on 18 Nov 1927 in Urbana, Champaign Co., Illinois at age 81, and was buried on 20 Nov 1927 in Glen Cemetery, Paxton, Ford Co., Illinois.
Children from this marriage were:
v. Della Emma Johnson, born on 4 Jul 1879 in Beaver Twp., Iroquois Co., Illinois, died on 13 Aug 1956 in Auburn, Placer Co., California. She was buried in Glen Cemetery, Paxton, Ford Co., Illinois.
vi. Laura C. Johnson was born on 17 Dec 1882 in Beaver Twp., Iroquois Co., Illinois, died on 16 Sep 1898 in Paxton, Ford Co., Illinois at age 15, and was buried in Sep 1998 in Glen Cemetery, Paxton, Ford Co., Illinois.
vii. Minnie Alida (Willehemina) Johnson was born on 22 Mar 1888 in Paxton, Ford Co., Illinois, died on 17 Nov 1984 in Paxton, Ford Co., Illinois at age 96, and was buried on 20 Nov 1984 in Glen Cemetery, Paxton, Ford Co., Illinois.
About 1880 Gustaf retired from farming, sold his farm and moved his family to Paxton, Ford County, Illinois. He built a house at 920 East Center Street where he would live until he passed away in 1908. Ida lived in that house until she sold it about 1918. She would live the rest of her life with her daughter Della Emma Finfrock while helping to raise her grandchildren. The house was still standing in the 1970's. But it was been severely neglected by it's subsequent owners and was torn down.
The family was always around other family. When Ida migrated in 1870 to Beaver Township, Iroquois county, Illinois, it was to live with her older sister Johanna Christine Andersdotter and her husband John Tinberg, who had immigrated to Illinois many years earlier. When the family moved to Paxton, Johanna and her family lived across the street. Their sister, Lovisa Augusta Mathila Andersdotter and her husband Ola Hansson, would migrate from Stockholm to Paxton, Illinois about 1885. And Gustaf's sister, Anna Sophia, and her family had also moved to Paxton about the same time as well.
All of Gustaf's children had passed away before I was born except for Minnie Alida Johnson Nugent. Aunt Minnie kept many aspects of her Swedish ancestry alive. She would treat us at holiday meals by saying the blessing in Swedish.

This picture was taken about 1904 at their home located at 920 E. Center St., Paxton, IL. Ida sold the house about 1918 and it has been torn down.
